Recruiting and prospecting in the network marketing community are Jurassic at best. Let me explain.
But first let me tell you up front I’m going to be Throwing some ROCKS at traditional training’s and Jurassic methods used today in network marketing and probably get some sharp criticism from some leaders.
So Let’s Me Ask You a Question…
Are you using any of these Jurassic park marketing methods??
- make a list of people you know
- the memory jogger method
- who’s your banker
- who’s your accountant
- who’s your doctor
- home parties, meetings etc.
- the 3 foot rule everyone is a prospect
- the F.O.R.M method stands for Family, Occupation, Recreation and Message
Do these sound Familiar?
This is Jurassic marketing, left over from decades when we had no Internet…and our home phones had cords.
Did you get that…Really get that.
I’ve been in this industry for almost 10 years. The first 8 1/2 years were full of frustration and disappointments trying to recruit and prospect. But the last 1 1/2 have been exciting and full of celebration, all due to the shift I made to Online marketing.
In 2007 I was introduced to Network Marketing and was interested in the promise of residual income. I was fascinated by income claims and building a team, my itch for network marketing was getting stronger, and I needed to scratch it…but it didn’t take long to realize I needed HELP figuring this out.
The old school or Jurassic training from my upline leaders, left me thinking there has to be a better way. The uncomfortable feelings, awkward conversations I was having and spamming my affiliate links all over social media were not producing RESULTS!
I wasn’t hitting the ranks and my team wasn’t either. I was spending a ton of cash on traveling from city to city doing meetings, home parties, 1 on 1’s you name it I did it…I was coach-able and doing all the things my upline ask me to do.
Maybe you can relate…
And the agenda mindset they taught, oh my GOSH…every single person is a prospect, so I was always thinking how to introduce my business to them. It’s no wander my friends and family were starting to ignore my calls, I exhausted my list…I was even trying to recruit my cashiers at HEB…and my waiters at the restaurants, everyone with a pulse.
I Remember This Like It Was Yesterday…
I had a visit with my upline one afternoon, and shared with them, that all my prospects were telling me NO, they told me to reach-out again and again, that NO really meant…not right now
, that their timing wasn’t right to just keep after them. To never give up and keep working your list. That’s when I realized they didn’t really have a plan for prospecting.
SOMETHING NEED TO CHANGE…
About 18 months ago I started to explore a different way to market, and discovered Attraction Marketing and more important how to apply it ONLINE…but also discovered my uplines were not on board with my new discovery. I kept hearing…
- “don’t reinvent the wheel”
- if it’s not broke don’t fix it
- you can’t use the Internet
- follow the Process, fall in love with the plan and get results
- you need just 2 skills to succeed, share opportunity, copy/paste & send
- we have a Done For You business plan, just follow it
I did some research and discovered some ugly truth about Network Marketing and MLM’s.
Americans involved in direct sales, added $36 billion to the economy in 2015. Those aren’t small numbers. And is where the good news ends and the ugly begins.
Here are just some of my findings…
What’s the truth about MLM?
Jon M. Taylor, PhD (PDF) conducted comprehensive research and analysis of the compensation plans of over 400 various MLM companies and presented his findings in his e-book, “The Case (For And) Against Multi-Level Marketing.” His findings, which are posted on the FTC website, are pretty sobering:
What Are MLM Success and Drop Out Rates?
- In the first year of operation, a minimum of 50% of representatives drop-out.
- After five years of operation, a minimum of 90% of representatives have left the company.
- By year 10, only those at or near the top have not dropped out – making it safe to say at least 95% of representatives have dropped out.
This could be one of the big reasons for Today’s 95% failure rate in this business.
Texting...it can be a very important & useful tool to promote your business IF used the right way.
However here are a few examples of whats being taught by upline leaders to find prospects/recruits…I receive these daily by FB messenger & text messages on my phone. Upline leaders are pushing this strategy as prospecting, when infact it’s called Spam. The individual didn’t ask for the information.
The screen shots above are becoming more prominent today in social media, and are WEAK attempts from people who haven’t yet figured out that building a business is not about tricking people and using these copy/paste messages to send to strangers.
Imagine if this strategy is used properly, instead of you sending unwanted messages to your contacts, people who are interested in what you have are messaging you for information. When used properly you become the hunted instead of the hunter. When I learned this 1 strategy it changed my business and will change yours too.
A monkey can copy/paste a message into a Private Message.
You have to ask yourself, could the Jurassic Park training be to blame? I say YES…that is the one thing all these companies have in common. Jurassic or Old School Marketing and this is a big black eye in this industry I love. With today’s technologies, why are we not taking advantage and working smarter?
Now it’s my passion to do what I can to help as many network marketers to reverse all the years of, “is this a pyramid” or “your in one of those things” etc.. The time has come to clean up the mess, that some leaders and companies have created. The success rate can be much higher than the 5% of today. And it will be with my help.
Most companies have real value and offer solutions to help people. But is overshadowed by reps throwing up on anyone who they come in contact with. With the proper training and strategies you can reverse the whole process and have people reaching out to you for more information about your product/company.
It’s actually about caring for others, becoming a person of value and authority uniquely positioned to help some with a problem. Since making this shift in business, I’ve not had 1 negative comment, because now I’ve learn how to target the right person.
“People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much your care”
Since discovering Attraction Marketing and how to apply it Online my numbers speak for themselves. Learning these new strategies and putting them into action I’ve helped just under 100 network marketers build bigger teams and put some serious cashola in their bank accounts.
Successful entrepreneurs & network marketers eventually learn the secret to success. It becomes the foundation upon which their entire prospecting, recruiting & business strategy is found.
Imagine having people reaching out to YOU asking on a Daily basis “what are you doing, can you share it with me” I get these message’s daily and so can you.
So let me ask…what would that look like in your business…Your Team?
This exactly where I started just last year. Our first 30 days of action resulted in 400 new leads, 21 new recruits. We never looked back!
